Private mental health crisis care facilities (Victoria)

Private mental health crisis care facilities (Victoria)

I would like a list of private mental health crisis support services in Victoria [edited by moderator].
the public mental health system is treating my loved one like a criminal and I want support for him in a mental health facility that understands mental health. What facilities would be available? Does anyone have any leads to help us?

Welcome to the forums @Yoli ,

It takes a lot to reach out. I'm sorry to hear about how your loved one is being treated.

Unfortunately, we are not able to direct you to any specific private clinics, however, you are welcome to contact Medicare Mental Health to see if they can put you in touch with services in your area: https://www.medicarementalhealth.gov.au/medicare-mental-health-centres

Please note, we've had to remove the location in Victoria that you've provided as a way to protect your anonymity. This is in line with our Anonymity Guideline. You can read the guidelines here: https://saneforums.org/t5/help/faqpage/title/community-guidelines

You and your loved one deserve all the support you can get.

Looking forward to hearing how you go.

Hi Yoli

My old doctor split his time between Delmont Private and St John of God Private

He retired to my knowledge, but both quality establishments in my experience

I've heard good things about Avive Health, who have a few locations. They rejected my referral though

Yes it is heartbreaking to watch a system criminalise someone because of the so called experts poor capacity to understand some mental health presentations, or develop rapport. I have experienced it recently also, and I had trust and training in the system. I wish I had good referrals to tell you, but I dont know any and the forum tends to want to keep everything anonymous. @Yoli Just know that you and your loved one are not alone. Keep trying to do the right thing by each other. Self care is part of it.

Hey @LilithLucy just letting you know I've edited a location out of your post, in order to keep to our Anonymity Guideline. You can share things related to states or larger metropolitan areas, but not specific towns or suburbs. Let us know if you have any questions 😊

Great to hear from you @LilithLucy

Have you ever been in any Vic Prevention and Recovery Centres? I found them so helpful for my recovery @LilithLucy

There is also a specialist personality disorder and complex trauma service in Melb, Spectrum.

These are both public though. As a borderline, I was never accepted into private at that time beacuse I was deemed too 'high risk'....

Hey @tyme thank you for being so warm and welcoming!!

I have never been to PARC as unfortunately I live juuuust over the border in NSW. Buuut having received a lot of treatment in Victoria I have a lot of friends who have found it so helpful!!

Private are saying the same thing. Too complex too much risk for voluntary etc…

😥😥

I'll be deeply honest.. people see 'BPD' and a lot seem not to want anything to do wtih the person... there's so much stigma..

However, you will find a rare handful wo LOVE workingn with peopel with BPD.

If you are new NSW, Project Air might have something for you @LilithLucy https://www.uow.edu.au/project-air/resources/

I found peer support really really helpful for my recovery. So when I was in PARCs, there were up to 10 residents at a time.. just to be able to share stories and lived experience was so powerful.

I also had a peer worker through the public mental health system. That was really helpful too.
