So I took Tab’s advice and emailed the RSL advocates about reapplying to Veterans Affairs. I was put out of the Army medically. Just waiting to hear back from them. Does anyone have any experience with the advocates?

Due to getting a medical discharge from the Army I was eligible to apply to the department of veterans affairs for a pension and a special card that gets you free healthcare. However the process was really adversarial. I was extremely unwell and faced with 3 defence force lawyers with no representation. Now I am hoping that the advocates will help me reapply and stand up for me in the process. I don’t know if the result will be any different but there is always a chance. I did receive a reparation payment from the Army mid year and I get an Army pension so I don’t see why DVA refused me.

I drove over to my sister’s house tonight and grabbed all my Army records. She has been storing them for the last 33years. I might apply to the Army for the rest of the records related to my service under the freedom of information act.

Advocate will know how to get records @Oaktree they are not all in the same place . depends on era and type of service etc

..could be @Oaktree psych records would be on there. they tried to discharge me after got to IETs cos I got so slack after basic. they had no idea . i was doing worse than they knew lol.Anyhoo.

I just heard back from the military compensation advocate at the RSL. He asked if I still had the original documents from the veterans review board etc. luckily I have a whole file of them. My sister very carefully kept the records. I took some photos of some of the relevant pages and emailed them back. The advocate said he would get a senior advocate to look into it. Wish me luck!
