Family separation

Family separation

Hi it's been a tough fathers day for me second year without hearing from my adult kids after the nasty marriage breakdown and divorce involving domestic violence against me by my ex wife. I am very down because l care and think about my kids every day and l have a granddaughter that l haven't seen for 2 years also. I feel my ex wife is controlling the kids having turned them against.me .I worry about my granddaughter growing up without her grandfather because my daughter is too selfish to allow her to see me. I have never hurt anyone but l feel like l am.such a bad dad and l hate to think what crap my granddaughter is being told.It takes away meaning to my life. I doubt the situation will ever improve. Why why do people still hurt me???

Re: Sad

Hi @Leeanne1,

I’m really sorry to hear that things feel so heavy right now. Depression can be incredibly hard to sit with, and I’m glad you reached out here instead of holding it all on your own.

You don’t have to have all the answers today, sometimes just getting through this moment is enough. If it feels possible, reaching out to someone you trust for some support or company could be a gentle step.

If you’d like some extra support, you can also contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636.

You’re not alone in this, and we’re here with you 💮

Re: Sad

I’m really sorry to hear about your mum. It makes a lot of sense that you’re feeling so concerned, especially with her being in hospital and not wanting to eat.

Seeing someone you love unwell can feel incredibly heavy and helpless at times. Please be gentle with yourself right now, you’re carrying a lot.

If you’re able to, it might help to speak with the hospital staff about your concerns so they’re aware of how worried you are and can keep you updated.

We’re here with you @Leeanne1

Re: Sad

I’m glad to hear your mum’s operation went okay.

It’s understandable that she’d be in pain after something like that, though I can imagine it’s still hard to see someone you love uncomfortable and in hospital.

I hope she’s able to get some relief and rest, and that you’re looking after yourself as well through all of this @Leeanne1
