Family separation

Family separation

Hi it's been a tough fathers day for me second year without hearing from my adult kids after the nasty marriage breakdown and divorce involving domestic violence against me by my ex wife. I am very down because l care and think about my kids every day and l have a granddaughter that l haven't seen for 2 years also. I feel my ex wife is controlling the kids having turned them against.me .I worry about my granddaughter growing up without her grandfather because my daughter is too selfish to allow her to see me. I have never hurt anyone but l feel like l am.such a bad dad and l hate to think what crap my granddaughter is being told.It takes away meaning to my life. I doubt the situation will ever improve. Why why do people still hurt me???

Re: Sad

Any goals for yourselves @john74 @Leeanne1 ?

What can you potter around doing and achieving @john74 ? What are your hobbies?

@Leeanne1 , do you give yourself time frames to complete the blankets?

My boyfriend is getting to me by telling me about the war . Not sure what to do or say 😞😞

Re: Sad

Hey @Leeanne1 that sounds super stressful. I'm wondering if maybe your boyfriend is himself feeling stressed out by it and is trying to process those feelings by talking about it...

That doesn't mean you have to participate though. You could put in a bit of a boundary by gently letting him know that you are stressed out and don't wish to hear about it any more?

@Jynx

I've tried but he don't listen to me so I say don't call me before the news

Re: Sad

@Leeanne1 hope he respects this boundary 🤞

Not always easy to be firm with people we care about on things like this.

Re: Sad

Hey @Leeanne1 ,

Sitting with you.

I know it must be so so hard.

For the future, is there a way you can disable parts of facebook so you don't see it?

I know that part of us always want to 'see' and 'know', but you may want to consider whether it helps or hinders your recovery.

Alternatively, if you feel you want to see it, that's totally okay too. But after, what actions can you take to help yourself stay on top of things and feel okay about it?

We're here for you.

There are no right of wrong answers. It's about what works for you.

Thinking of you. Thank you for remembering us here 🙂
