Interested to hear others thoughts or questions on how we’ve set this up - very much a micro/co-design thing that we think might have value for a range of people for a range of reasons.
also if you know me you’ll know I love a bad joke / pun and we have been calling it internally as a concept “the J-Space” recognising the significant effort @ArraDreaming has put into helping us shape it and also because the future of mental health in 2023 is “MySpace” get it?!!! Boom-tish!
never mind I’ll see myself out.
Some of the things we’ve designed with @ArraDreaming as possible features are the ability to post in somewhat more detail about things that might be sensitive in the open space, and Jay has the ability to use it a bit like a coaching and feedback space to understand things that are happening in the main Forums as well as IRL.
We’ve wondered if for new members wanting to journal their story somewhere to let us get to know them and how best to support their membership it might be more effective than via email.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this, but has anyone thought of something like a discord server or something similar? something that a link can be provided to a small group, who can voice chat in a safe space with a mod in the room?
I know some people find it hard to express themselves in written form, this could make it easier. and if it was done as voice chat without video, you still have the privacy.
Hearing a voice gives this process more warmth and an understanding of the emotion someone is feeling.

Hi @Miss-wish Thank you for your suggestion here. I was wondering if you could repost this in the 'Design, Layout and UX (User Experience)' or 'Connecting with the Community" thread. It is a great suggestion and worth more discussion.

I just wanted to chime in and say that Neami does such a great job of crisis care with peer support workers 24/7 and clinicians, that I don't think I would try to get crisis support on the forums again, ever. My levels of distress only increased as I tried to access a PSW here the other evening.
there is no way SANE can match the outcomes of the UMHCC unless you live in a remote area. they do such a great job, they are literally saving the ramping in hospitals. I wouldn't even attempt to compete with them, but there is a void when it comes to community connection, where I think SANE could really shine. partnering with Skylight is potentially not the move I would've made, as their social support services are good, but only if you have a strong enough voice to advocate for yourself. the 800k hole they seem to be financially in is scary, and I'm just waiting to see if they get bailed out by the federal/state government or not. their group activities are a farce, and I have given feedback with very little response from them. they seem much more interested in placating me with motherhood statements than actually listening to someone with a lived experience who values support, but could always use more.

There has been a problem identified this evening with words that are banned for members however mods/PSW can post. This is an area that needs to be looked at for consistency across the forums. The 'banned' words need to be applied across the board otherwise there can be confusion in what is allowed and what is not. If a mod/PSW can post a word banned for members then it can become confusing for a member who cannot post that same word.
There also needs to be a review of these words - as has been identified in the forums this evening, there are some (maybe) more offensive words allowed and used in common language whereas some 'tamer' words that may mean something else are not allowed.
You’ll soon be able to use one secure login to access all SANE services.
For added security, members are now required to log in with their email address and password - member names are no longer supported for logging in.
If you had a Forums account before 19 May 2026 and haven’t set up your new login yet, you'll be prompted to set up your new secure login when you sign-in.
