Suicidal ideation and Support
My 18 year old is going through a very hard time. They have ASD and has self harmed (said it was an attempt. Wounds were superficial). They isolate themselves a lot.
I have worked home from work for a couple of weeks to support them as best as I can through emotional support, encouraging them to call the mental health hotline (which they did) taking them to SafeHaven, GP, psychology and Community mental health appointments.
I am worried to leave them alone but want to allow freedom, choice and the opportunity to build resilience, and trust that they will ask for help when they need it.
What else can I do for them?
I am struggling with my own mental health with the worry, stress and anxiety I have about them.
