Being in ED where your meds are taken from you

Sounds very difficult @Sequester .

Last year I was shunted around for a while waiting for a bed and lost track of meds between wards, which with sleep deprivation probably compounded things. It's hazy now. Keeping faith in the system is an effort of will sometimes.

Hope you're doing ok if that's happening for you right now.

I know what the "Gold Standard" is. Lots of doctors might shy away from it, owing to potential side effects

Respect to you. Been there too a year ago. I am angling for law reform because there is a gap.

I thought titration was the responsible way to change meds, if possible.

Advocacy about gaps in the system is important.

Titration always. Community health did this to me twice. No psychiatrist safely exited me. Thankfully they did iatrogenic harm so I have a strong case to go elsewhere because all trust is gone and never to be repaired. @Appleblossom 

This happened to my daughter… I was livid. Every hospital has a patient advocacy service, keep asking. If GP’s, pharmacists, psychologists all say “don’t go off these meds suddenly” then don’t take them away. Especially run of the mill antidepressants. This isn’t rocket science geeez. So am with you.

I took the nurse's phone with their consent to frantically speak to the on call nurse. She was very understanding. I had a terrible reaction the following day to coming off medication [edited by moderator] suddenly and nothing was written in the notes about taking me off it so the psychiatrists in Bloomfield had no idea until I told them a week later. They couldn't explain why this happened.

Some good news today on other topics. Police in NSW are officially off limits at welfare checks and this will be done by Ambulance. I campaigned heavily for this to happen. Change does happen.

I'm glad you were able to advocate on behalf of your daughter. In these tense scenarios anything goes when it comes to being heard and treated responsibly.
