Hi @Spitfire1 ,

It sounds like a very trying time, and exhausting to say the least. Are there any particular strategies that have worked for you in the past, or people you can lean on?

The best advise i can give you is please stop trying to be someone you think you ought to be. Doing that you are effectively sabotaging who you are even today. A beautiful person not wrong or defective. Honest my friend i stuffed much of my life up doing that.

For the more we try to be someone we are NOT, the more we class ourselves a failure, and such makes ANYONE feel anxious. The answer is simply accept who you are, even today in your low self esteem. Because you are GOOD ENOUGH already! Nothing to be anxious about anyhow. That is a false concept put in your head to torment you social lies and expectations.

Our Eternal Discovery!

Nothing is greater

than living truthfully true.

Let each day reveal again

the quiet miracle of existence.

For reality shapes us true,

even when you stumble.

Let true love sustain you

also when you grow weary

or fail yourselves.

Living true preserves the soul

for true is a child of truth.

Truly Born to be alive

tested by suffering,

shaped by experience,

yet never without worth.

For the worth of true you

cannot be measured by gold,

nor weighed against the wealth of the earth.

Your value is very great.

Greater than riches.

Greater than power.

Greater than all the treasures

of this passing world.

For someone who lives in truth

lives a life destined to be eternal.

This is where the final discovery remains:

Your life has meaning

loved and loving.

Your moments lived

are never unseen.

Your truth will live on

preserving you you.

For your true self

is worth more

than all the wealth

of the universe

to the truth

that's you!

Re: Positive strategies

Hi @Spitfire1 .

I’m currently doing a Bachelor of Social Work at uni along with having my own mental health issues . 1 thing I have learnt as part of my uni studies is the power of journaling and writing things down and then reflecting on what I have learnt and what I could do better in specific situations to help improve myself in the future. It’s good to sit and think about things and be able to learn from them.

For example, question why are you anxious about work? Is it the staff you work with or is it the clients you work with? What are your strengths and what are you good at? We all have strengths and sometimes it takes other people to tell us what they are in order for us to recognise them. Maybe you’re a good problem solver or good at communicating others needs? Maybe you’re a great listener or good at giving great advice? I believe you are a very capable support worker and you have done well to ask for advice here on the forums. That takes strength and courage so well done.

Take care.

Re: Positive strategies

Yes it's the staff @ the nursing home where my client lives as my company who supports the client are contracted support workers and nursing home staff will dobb to the family on everything we do with the client as they think they know better than us & they do it better, this makes me anxious to work there with my dementia client, I had my first 1:1 session to setting up my sane recovery goal template today, everyone are all very good she gave me a few good insights to work from, I've just called in on my shift sick never done b4 will chill out 4 the day

Re: Positive strategies

I worked as a support worker.

It can be very tough.

I ended up going to see a psychologist to get help with dealing with it.

You are not dumb.
