Complex Conditions / Mixed Personality Disorder
Hey all, I’ll introduce myself now.
[edited by moderator]
About 7 months ago now, I was initially diagnosed with ADHD (Combined Type). Along with the diagnosis it also stated my diagnosis from a psychologist of ASD level 1. Now here’s the kicker - About 3.5 - 4 months roughly down the line, I ended up trying to check myself in for suicidal ideation, my thoughts of suicidal ideation have been ongoing for a long time on and off.
The problem is, when I was seen to by the psychiatrist on duty, I was told I have (BPD) and this is the first time i was to be officially told I have BPD. Pretty shocking realisation.
Having BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) is a curse. Based on this finding, they deemed me not appropriate for a hospital bed, due to the fact they believed my suicidal ideation was only due to BPD symptoms. I will also mention that I told the staff my situation was critical, and I still had to wait 12 hours in a waiting room.
They referred me to a community mental health centre, I seen a psychiatrist there, and I received another 3 diagnoses. (ASPD, CSBD, BPD again) - So twice diagnosed BPD and 2 extra personality disorders (Mixed Personality).
This is clearly a longer post and I apologise, it’s a lot to tell. I’m slowly beginning to come to terms with it all, and it’s bloody hard. Honestly I just feel like a mess of a human being, and I’ve been turned away from roughly 8 clinics (Both Psychiatric and Psychology). I’ve been told my conditions are too complex for practitioners to deal with, and they pass me back to my GP.
my GP has been fantastic, trying their best to help me any way they can, but this is my evidence of how bad the mental health system in Perth has been for me. At this stage I’m at a bit of a loss, my BPD has been getting far worse as I’m getting older, it’s affecting my relationship and my kids when I split, and am yelling or saying hurtful things (Never physically hurt anybody) and I would never want to do anything like that.
it’s bloody tough when no place wants to help, just makes you feel like “What’s the point” - When nobody listens, tries to rush you through appointments or just straight up ignores your pleas for help; its so very exhausting.
It’s my first post and I honestly just wanted to vent and share my frustration, maybe somebody out there is experiencing similar, or feeling the same feelings, I don’t know. But if you are, feel free to comment or reach out. I’m not really a huuge people person, but I’m happy to talk with you about common experiences or struggles. Big advocate for mental health issues, and I also do plan on working my way towards becoming a psychologist myself.
Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.
