Scapegoat , childhood trauma and family betrayal

Scapegoat , childhood trauma and family betrayal

I am the family scapegoat and my childhood was very dysfunctional, my sister was the golden child, my parents and sister were like living with the mean girls, and treading on egg shells all my childhood, depending on wat mood there in, I finally admitting this to myself and having trouble admitting to myself what being the scapegoat meant, the betrayal from my family is unbelievable, it still shocks me, I am breaking away now, I am aware but it is hard and you feel alone, even thought you done it on yr own always, looking for support groups and arranging therapy.

Dear @socket, sorry to hear of your experiences with your dysfunctional family. I can also relate, and you're not alone. I'm reaching out to a new therapist to help me understand and cope, and wondering if it may help for you as well? Regardless, thank you for being courageous enough to share and to reach out for help.

I too was that in my family. I was the people pleaser and try not to do anything wrong, what was expected of me. But in some ways it made it worse as I was seen as trying to show them up. It became them trying to make me feel bad because they did. I stepped away after learning to set boundaries with consequences. I’m away from them all and I’m sure they say I was the problem. I’m just no longer the kicking boy.

Stay Strong and now they are just not your people and you will find people who have more insight and kinder temperament. My philosophy is (I think the saying is) a high tide raises all boats. I try to find the people who want to lift others up and then we are on the same high tide.

love and support

@socket i'm in the same boat as you. And very sorry to hear you have to got through this as well. Life sucks when placed in such a position.

For me childhood trauma let to psychosis, anxiety and depression. i also been the scapegoat all my life. Not a nice position to be.
