Talking through trauma and PTSD

New here, very complex issues.. BPD, CPTSD.

New here, very complex issues.. BPD, CPTSD.

Hi, I am new to the forum.

I have been diagnosed with BPD, CPTSD currently. With an assessment due for ADHD.

I was diagnosed by my usual treating GP AND Psychologist.

I then had this confirmed by a court appointed single-expert assigned to me for family court matters. Despite prior to the courts getting involved I was and have been actively seeking support regarding, medication review, trauma based therapy such as cbt, dbt, which sadly has gone unnoticed by the courts currently.

what is yet to be taken into account, is the nature of my relationship with the father. DCPS are not currently involved in the family matter. My ex-partner is currently attending the supreme courts for a serious offence that I pursue with charges. Once the criminal charges are finalised it should show the family courts a different view of the case and my mental health ( I hope)

I am here to hopefully get all the right supports in place for the children to return into my primary care. I must make sure my mental health is managed. I have supports, services, safety measures and plans in place.

I am on the wait list for a psychiatrist.

I regularly see my GP.

I speak with supports for women’s Saftey, FASS, relationships Australia, Skylight mental health, applying for NDIS.

the family court process is extremely challenging for my mental health. The father of my children is a contributing factor to my mental illness. I feel he is now using the legal system to make sure that he has a hold on me.

I have booked the 1:1 session, I have started my recovery plan, done a couple of surveys and I’ve enrolled into a few parenting classes.

I am seeking contacts, advice, support and guidance during this difficult time.

the charges my ex is facing are sexual misconduct of a minor, statutory rape and indecent exposure of a minor. All these crimes are from the relationship we had from the age of 14 years old whilst he was 22 years old the relationship continued right up until I left at the age of 19years old. We share two children together who up until recently lived primarily with me.

Hello @NikNaks and welcome to the forums, thankyou for being so brave to come here and share your story.

I can relate to so much of what you're going through, unfortunately I can't say much due to my anonymity and having to maintain my safety. Navigating the court system especially in relation to children is incredibly hard and draining.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can to have supports in place and to take care of your mental health and you should be so proud of yourself for that. I've been where your are, but with the heavy DCP involvement due to my ex, it wasn't easy, it broke me many times but try to keep the focus of getting your children back with you. Keep looking after yourself and keep fighting for your children and I truly hope things work out for you. You're not alone, we're here for you ❤️.

@NikNaks have you heard of Sarah Kopp? She has bravely fought her own abuser for similarly grooming her when she was 14. Her story was on the ABC.

I'm sorry for what you went through.. The NDIS is very tricky to manage, and can be helpful - for me it has been more harm than anything else, tho. Very complex system.

I know many people do find it lifesaving.

Re your diagnosis, have u managed to get any treatment for the cptsd? I've tried a few diff therapies, some have worked, some were so triggering i almost disassociated the whole time.

I also have cptsd.

I hope you are ok
