Movement ~ are you doing it?
I've just come back from some time away and my body is reminding me what movement actually does.
I wasn't following a program or hitting targets. I was walking through places that made me feel small in the best way, swimming in water that didn't care what I'd been through, dancing badly to music I didn't know the words to, and doing breathwork when my nervous system needed to remember it was safe.
And something shifted. Not dramatically. Just... quieter. Less static.
It got me thinking about how we talk about movement in this space. For a long time I think I understood movement as something I was supposed to do — PT, fitness tests, maintaining standards. It had a purpose and a metric attached to it.
What I noticed away was different.
Movement was just my body having a conversation with itself. A way of discharging what had built up. A way of coming back online.
I'm curious ~ how have you been moving lately? And I don't just mean exercise. I mean anything that got you out of your head and into your body, even briefly. A walk. Stretching in the kitchen. Sitting in the sun.
What's working for you right now?
