Job Search!

Job Search!

Hi guys,

This thread is for all those searching for a job. A place to share challenges as well as successes. I am currently out for the evening but I will come back and talk about my recent job application later tonight. Please feel free to tag other members. @tyme

Re: Job Search!

Hey @SaltwaterSoul . I haven't heard back. The manager doing the hiring was away this past week so no news. The suspense is a lot, but hopefully I hear back this week! It would be a great place to volunteer at if I don't manage to get the job, they had a really nice vibe. Thanks for telling me about your volunteering.

@Ainjoule

Oh, I'm sorry you haven't heard anything back yet. At least they gave you a reason for the delay. Fingers crossed you hear something soon! Please let me know when you find out, I really hope it's good news.

@SaltwaterSoul How is everything going for you now? Are you able to sleep better?

Re: Job Search!

@Ainjoule How was your first day of work? You're a Peer Worker, aren't you?

Re: Job Search!

Hey @FearofUnknown . I had to do pre-employment checks so I will start in a few weeks. Yes, Peer Support. I have been very lucky, I did advocacy to start with and then moved to Peer Support. Thanks for asking :) How are you going?

Re: Job Search!

Hi @Ainjoule ! The warehouse has been quiet with limited work available so me and a few other colleagues have been let off work for a few weeks now. I resume working next week after having 2 weeks off. Before I had 3 weeks off then worked 2 days. Hopefully, work will be regular again or else I will get in trouble with Centrelink for not meeting my minimum work hours! I'm a little worried right now.

Re: Job Search!

Hey @FearofUnknown . That sounds really stressful. It's hard when something that's completely outside your control ends up feeling like your responsibility, especially when Centrelink requirements are involved. I hope work does pick up again once you're back next week and that things become more consistent for you.

Re: Job Search!

@Ruby26 Hey, how are you going? Thanks for asking. I’m sleeping a lot better thanks to my new medication, and I’m finally able to sleep through the night and wake up with more energy, which means less anxiety and panic. Work is going good, but I think I still need to find a good work balance. I need to learn to fully switch off on my days off, and ground myself. But I haven’t missed a shift yet, and it feels good to be working again. I feel really stressed at times though and sometimes I doubt myself, but I guess that’s part of learning. Not every day is going to go 'perfectly', and that’s okay.
