@Shaz51 Thank you very kindly.
@tyme
Thank you so much. I’ve learned most of what I know through trial and error. I rarely buy plants or pots because they can be expensive, so many of mine have been gifted, picked up for free, or grown from cuttings. I also reuse yoghurt containers as outer pots, and I recently learned how to make seed starters out of toilet paper rolls. I can’t believe I never thought of that earlier. Bunnings also has a free section for planting pots, which has been really helpful.
I know I’m probably not using the perfect soil for every plant, but so far my plants seems happy, so I haven’t bothered buying special mixes, especially since it can be quite expensive. Caring for plants has become a calming and meaningful hobby for me. I enjoy observing their needs and noticing gradual growth, which often feels connected to my own personal journey.
One of my early mistakes was overwatering. I initially tried following a schedule, but I realised plants require different amounts of water depending on their conditions. Now I check the soil weekly and water only when it feels dry. I’ve come to realise how important lighting is as well, that was something I had to learn over time. I was given an indoor plant book for my birthday once, which has helped, but I’ve definitely made mistakes in the past. It’s all part of figuring things out.
Would you mind sharing a photo of yours? Maybe we can solve the plant puzzle here together as a group. 😊
