Lost in Translation

I haven't served personally @ccau_82 but some things that have still stuck with me as a military kid relate to moving and my possessions:

• I keep so many boxes, tubs, bubble wrap and newspaper in my shed so that I have them ready for if I need to pack and move again.
• I frequently go through my stuff and donate / throw away things. Usually once every six months or so. This again relates to the idea that I might have to move again, and I don't want to have to pack more things than absolutely necessary.

BEEN OUT FOR OVER 35YRS,

(AUZZIE ARMY COMBAT MEDIC, COOK AND SUPPORT COUNCILLOR)

BUT...

* STILL HIT THE DECK BECAUSE OF SUDDEN LOUD NOISE- CAR BACKFIRE ETC,

* STAND TO ATTENTION AND SALUTE IF I HEAR "LAST POST"

* PACK A BAG AS IF I'M STILL IN THE MILITARY (IF IT DOESN'T FIT, CAN'T HAVE/TAKE),

* CALL EVERYONE SIR/MAME

JUST TO NAME A FEW,

SOME HABITS JUST DON'T DIE,

LOL! 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 ,

Punctuality is my thing. I am often an hour or half an hour early. I hate waiting but am constantly waiting because I am always so early. For example I had a 2pm meeting today but arrived at 1:05pm. Had to find a cafe to wait at till 1:45pm.

I know what you mean about some habits not dying

@ccau_82 - I also always check and recheck my “equipment” before going anywhere although these days it’s basically keys and phone.

And never throw away any packing materials - you never know… @0ddsidian

But @Oaktree - punctuality was never my strong point and now it’s even worse 🤣🤣
