@TAB
Yes, the web address went blue! Goodo!
Carousel is a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. It finishes with the song You'll Never Walk Alone... that was just posted. It got really popular - as a heart warming inspiring song and taken up by a brit football club.

It certainly can be when you are going through challenging times. Patience, calmness and the ability to gain control over one's emotions takes time, but then emotional regulation begins to kick in, and the firestorm within eases, and we can view our situation more rationally. It is a process.
I would like to offer a few suggestions if I may: The rise of social media today has many of us hooked into staring at our phones for a good portion of the day. What follows is brain rot, and an increasing inability to focus and challenge our grey matter. In the same vein, many people no longer find the time or energy (it only seems like no energy, when in fact, the reality is a form of anhedonia - the perceived in ability to feel emotions) for stimulating hobbies.
I suppose as a creative, I have mostly managed to keep up multiple interests and avoid social media as much as possible. Its important to realise you are being deliberately programmed for dopanine hits (the feel-good hormone) through the social media algorithms. Over time, it affects critical thinking, flattens emotions and the ability to think independently, and appeals to the more primitive fight or flight response within our nervous system by flashing extreme content at us. It is toxic, and best avoided.
Find yourself something you enjoy doing and do it for the pure joy of doing it. It is not something to be measured, perfected (not competively anyway) or shared for likes. You cannot be present when you are 'sharing' behind a screen. Do it just for you, purely for the enjoyment and the ability to switch off when you need to.
Personally, I love art, listening to music, photography, making my own music, woodwork, poetry, sculpting and digital photography. I love good food and wine and the ability to dive deep into things which interest me. I am a polymath, so I tend to encompass depth over a range of fields, as well as taking things from one and applying the same thinking and experiences to a completely unrelated field.
I love to learn and have done since I was a child. In fact, I was lucky enough to go to a speed reading introductory class at about age fifteen (my mum was private secretary to the mayor of our city and got tickets, bless her). During the introduction, the material suddenly came alive to me in a way I have never forgotten. Imagine feeling like you are the writer, actor, director and audience of a movie simultaneously - that was what it was like...all from zipping through a story at speed, not worrying about comprehension. For some reason, the experience affected me so profoundly and I was instantly enamoured and wanted more...much more.
I taught myself to read visually through their techniques and over a short time, my reading speed went from about 250 words per minute to slightly over 2,500 words per minute (the speed is dynamic depending on the material you are reading - a novel is very different to a scientific text), and my comprehension became near-perfect. Over time, I incorporated other techniques to help me memorise things quickly and not forget them - from lists to long number sequences, word meanings, concepts and all manner of things. It's not brilliance, rather technique.
To come back to my original point, consider the time you spend on things which hold little value in your life. By taking up a hobby you love, over time you will begin to balance your life again and notice things that anhedonia steals from you without you even realising. We get smarter by challenging ourselves mentally and emotionally, by engaging cognitive load (working the problem out ourselves, not relying on AI or technology). Think of it like this: Trees grow strong because they weather the elements. Your brain, your emotions, and your personality will grown stronger and healthier by re-engaging with things that make you the beautiful human you are, not some artificial 'sweetener' that wastes your time and rots your brain.
Lastly, please understand that "intelligence" is multi-faceted. I know my IQ but I consider it largely moot, simply because the number merely encompasses a small sliver of what intelligence actually is. There are at least ten different types of intelligence we know of today - natural, intrapersonal, interpersonal, musical, kinesthetic et al. Ask yourself: How much better could your life be if you were to open up more of yourself by engaging in the things that make you the happiest, and if you did it just for you, not for anyone else? How would your life look a month from now, a year from now, a decade from now? If that sounds good, then the journey begins with one small step, then another...put enough of them together and you will be walking back to a healthy path in no time flat and actually living again. Bless.
