New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

Hi Peoples,

This thread has been done before...but unfortunately it has fallen foul of the forum bug/s.

So a few of us (like @Bunniekins @TAB ) thought it might be time for a reboot.

The idea is simple - post a clip of whatever music you would like to share with the forums community. Link the clip and tag the member/s you'd like to share it with...

Enough preamble. This clip is a bit different to what I will normally share - The Voice is not normally my thing - but I'm glad I stumbled across it today:

I love this one - have played drums to it several times, powerful sentiments and a personal relevance to me after coming through a very painful time, a good reminder that no matter what, you MUST keep going.

Hey @Bunniekins (lol, that is such a cool handle!)

Yes, Marillion have been around for years, absolutely wonderful musicians (their drummer is now in his seventies and is the oldest original member of their band. They were originally known as Sil Marillion. Steve Hogarth ('h') took over as lead singer after Fish had a parting of ways with them and went off to do his own thing (they are all mates again now).

This is one of Fish's most beautiful songs and came out when the lockdowns for Covid came into effect in the UK. Interesting story with the music video for the song below - they had to race against time to get it filmed before lockdown, so they travelled by car from Scotland to a beach in England and just made it to the border in the evening in the nick of time.

It is about the loss of someone to dementia and very personal to 'Fish.' 'Garden of Remembrance' is something I hold very dear, having lost several people to this horrible condition. It was brilliantly done - the amazing art gallery he is singing in is actually a model in the cameraman's back yard, believe it or not! I hope you like it.

@Bunniekins ehehehe...'s why we get all the chickies!;P

I love all types of drums - on the weekend, there was an African festival in our city centre and they had some hand drums for people to try, so I had an impromptu 'sesh' with the boys...couldn't help myself lol. Reckon it would be a sad ole world without music hey?:) x

@Bunniekins

You're welcome my dear - ironically, a girl I was involved with in the UK during lockdown told me about it. A few lovely things about the video: the camerman recorded it on what is called a 'RED' camera (very high definition) and made a scale model of an art gallery, replete with miniature paintings (they represent much of Marillion and Fish's earlier stuff). The wilting flowers were cleverly done by slowing wilting them with a bunsen burner underneath, filming them wilting and then playing the film backward for the effect. The beach is real, but certain bits in the background were digitally removed, so it's real and not real at the same time - the glass partition between the two lovers is totally digital. Its such a moving piece, I never get sick of listening to it. Always had a preference for minor keys...they bring out the humanity in us, we sometimes forget. I am so glad you enjoyed it and Marillion. Check out some of their other stuff on Youtube or Spotify, or I can give you a list of some of their best songs if you would like - just ask. Have a wonderful day x
