Concepts about brain resistance to change - Dr. Joe Dispenza

Concepts about brain resistance to change - Dr. Joe Dispenza

The concepts Dr. Joe Dispenza discusses in this video below are about brain resistance to change and reprogramming thought patterns have significant relevance to understanding how our nervous systems respond to perceived threats - including the "threat" of positive change.

From a nervous system perspective, what Dispenza describes as "brain resistance" often relates to the nervous system's natural tendency toward homeostasis and its protective mechanisms. For our community of veterans and familes, this resistance can be even more pronounced due to heightened nervous system activation and adaptive responses developed through their service experiences.

The "science of change" he mentions likely touches on neuroplasticity principles that are fundamental to trauma-informed approaches - understanding that our brains and nervous systems can adapt and heal, but often need specific conditions of safety and regulation to do so effectively.

That's a really good summary @PeppyPatti. Do you think the theory reflects your experiences (so far)?

I dont know @0ddsidian

I like listening to this audible and been writing in my journal about this state of Mind called Flow.

Flow is a state of complete immersion

and focus in an activity. It's often described as being "in the zone," where you lose track of time, and your actions and awareness become one.

So Many years ago - i had it

this Flow

where you just become ' in the zone ' spontaneous action and deep enjoyment. , flow is a state where you are so absorbed in an activity that nothing else seems to matter, and the effort feels effortless.

But when i had it it was when i had a mission. Iv was working like a trooper to pay for all of my sons needs, tutoring etc sɛ it was all about hyper work hyper anxirty. Hyper hospital for youngest son. Its interesting for me

When

Then i had it when a few good things happen.

I like that @PeppyPatti. I've never thought about the concept of "flow". I don't know if it's something I experience much of but it sounds wonderful! I experience "time blindness" but that's different haha

I'll have a little listen to that audible 😊

I think I got my brother to buy it on audible but I think I said it took me years to be able to listen to it I was so overwhelmed.

I used to put his first cd on for only 5 mins at a time for years before I was able to listen to it.

I realised a couple of days ago that I no longer have anything to play CD's on, @PeppyPatti. And I have a lot of CD's still.

“ breaking the …….. ( something) just to be yourself and another one. Iv had very relaxing sleeps ……

That's so good @PeppyPatti! I'm glad it's helped your sleep. I was talking to someone about guided meditation the other day and it helped me reflect that I struggle with guided meditation if it asks me to picture something in my mind / visual something. I can do body scans and following along to breathing exercises but picturing things in my head is really difficult for me.

shame

I think my husband feels ashamed and he gets defensive. It’s pretty funny for me but if I wasn’t married to him ide feel pretty annoyed if it was like a friend or something.
just saying.
iv been reading that Dispenza s voice isn’t for everyone.

I find it difficult

Yes, the frequency of a voice can be triggering / agitating depending on where your nervous system is at. I have to be really selective when I'm on Insight Timer (meditation app) looking for guided meditations. I prefer to just do it to music these days.

Same thing with some sounds or music though....
