Shoulder to Shoulder: Veterans

VP Day

VP Day

Today the 14th August 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific Day. This is the day 80 years ago that Japan unconditionally surrendered which ended World War Two.

I would like to honour the last living veterans that served in this conflict as well as to remember the contributions that Australia made.

Thanks for adding this post @Oaktree

My friend’s dad was a veteran of the war in the Pacific. He’s passed away now, but I remember him talking about it. It never left him, and like many of us modern veterans, it was remembered with both pride and affection for his mates as well as a sense of tragedy at the loss on all sides.
