RSL Visit

There were a lot if old men at the RSL but there were a couple of ladies and one new guy’s wife came. It was good that I wasn’t the only new member. I got invited to the Christmas lunch at the local pub and I can bring a plus one if hubby wants to come. They bought us all a celebratory Christmas drink at the end of tonight’s meeting. So basically each month it is a formal meeting and there are opportunities to volunteer to raise funds for charity through the year. Everyone seemed friendly and there was the usual inter service banter. Oh Airforce is better than Army… that sort of thing. I enjoyed casting my mind back to my service days. That was a long time ago now. 33 years ago! Anyway I need to call RSLWA tomorrow to see if I need to pay for the new year considering I only got 1 month out of this year’s membership.

think may go to next one down the road . this place is too incestuous and based on local royalty, the president has same name as main st if you get that, plus he just got his daughter a free O/S trip for researching some dead uncle of theirs lol they only open once a month , no one checks membership, think was told 6 service members, went there twice , like 200 people all locals and not signed in just bought a schnitzel ha ha lol, not much to do with RSL, just another local club..

RSLWA extended my membership to the end of 2025 so I don’t need to pay again already. Your local RSL sounds so dodgy. How far away is the one down the road?

I stumbled onto Open Arms psych thru RSL like 6 mths ago. done with it now, but that was one of their suggestions , that 'bigtown' ie rsl down the road at regional city a 'real RSL' as opposed to what I had described to them re local

I am wondering about getting the RSL to help me put in a new application to vet affairs. Back when I applied it was very adversarial and they had 3 lawyers and I had no representation. Basically they said the bipolar was genetic but I should have argued that it manifested due to my service. The Army do pay me a pension so it makes no sense

everyone in system talked to says RSL advocates can do things no one else can @Oaktree

..they get results. I havent tried it, should . they would know off the bat if time-waste or not.

There was details about advocacy on my RSL welcome email, so I just sent them through an email. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for the idea.
