Compensation

Compensation

So I applied for compensation for an indecent assault that happened to me, by someone in my chain of command, whilst I was in basic training. I should also mention that I was only 17 at the time, so technically a child.

I applied to the Defence Force ombudsman for compensation. It took them 18 months to come to a decision and they said it would take Defence a further 7 months to come to a decision.
I did report the abuse at the time that it happened so this is pretty open and shut. However, I am still waiting to hear something back. Haven’t heard anything since October last year.
I have read about @TAB ’s experience and it sounds like the Army are trying hard not to pay any compensation so I will be surprised if this comes out in my favour.

Re: Compensation

the person in ADF who told me about the scheme was surprised when told him him it was not approved. guess they were running out of money and changed the standards. scheme had run for years .I was only told 6 days b4 cut off. I was told people "had got like $20k for next to nothing" this person was in personal contact with people who worked there. so they had spent all the money sounds like and got choosey

Re: Compensation

yes, it is @tyme or was , there was a deadline for that as well, which ages ago . I was worse off applying for it having to re-live all the things that happened, then, as said, get them read back to me and told sorry not good enough ha ha hilarious. wish never applied. they are scum.

I am not sure what thread this is, but I would prefer if people do not tag me in the 'veterans' thing. I do not want to be a part of it thanks. @tyme

Hey @TAB , sure thing. That's okay. I just saw you in the convo tonight - no more tags from me here to you.

A couple of weeks ago I did get paid reparation. It brought up a bunch of yucky feelings again but I am glad that I was successful
