@chibam you’re correct that the overall strategy is a work in progress. We have incorporated the idea of Collective Intelligence in our strategy so we are working on how do we support that to be created and then lift it up to government in a way that achieves change.

I’d like thoughts about this as a possible community governance model. This link will take you to the standards for Clubhouse international.
They’re run by and for members… have a read of this link and replace Clubhouse with forum each time you see it, it’s quite remarkable I think how much potential for crossover there could be.
Note: the link talks a lot about “work ordered day” which is a funny American sort of way of talking about concepts in australia that we tend more to call recovery/contributing life but the idea is that in a Clubhouse it’s about being part of regular life - not setting up entertainment programs for people to be separate from life, but as you’ll read it also expressly prohibits things like sheltered workshops.

@RachSANECEO @Captain24 I personally do not like the idea of 'following' other members. It could lead to 'stalker' type behaviour and one feeling unable to remove themselves from a difficult situation or thread. As the forums currently stand, we are able to see under a members profile when threads they follow have been posted in (either by them or another member). This is probably not widely known but I see that as also being a good thing. It is hard enough to be open and vulnerable without the thought that you could be 'followed' by someone else, especially if that someone else has a negative impact upon you personally.

@RachSANECEO I love the idea of the Clubhouse model. My question is: how would you see this working in the forums?

Well I thought we could do a self assessment against the standards, would be interesting to compare and I suppose it’s possible that if the model works or mostly works we could try actually applying it- the helpful thing about clubhouse is it would let us tap into a whole bunch of resources that have been built by members around the world over many decades on how to support a self governing community. We’d be breaking new ground as a fully digital model but lots of what is in there can map across -
Eg one of the clubhouse standards is outreach. I visited some clubhouses in California and New York a while back and they had a sort of leader board for community members and would make sure to check on people that hadn’t come by in a while.
That same concept exists in the forums in that we can see behind the scenes who has logged in and when they haven’t in a while, so we could design a governance version where if a new member joins and posts for a while and we don’t see them it then triggers an outreach email - that sort of thing.
The difference would be that rather than it being SANE’s job, in a clubhouse model the “workers” are equally the members or staff so imagine it might be something that’s overseen by a mixed group of community guides and staff.
That’s just a quick guess at an example, but if you read through the standards with that mindset it creates a lot of possibilities

What we are doing right now, talking with a group of members who elected to be part of this design conversation- an ongoing (and perhaps more organised!!) version would be a lot like the way clubhouses manage decisions…

As you would already know @RachSANECEO I love the Clubhouse model and think there are components that 'fit' with the forum style really well - this forums hub being a great example of members at the centre.
I will reply more in the next couple of days - have developed a headache tonight and a bit stressed about things so I need to get off technology ...but watch this space 💕
